Heidi Klum turns herself into a giant severed hand for Halloween 2026
Heidi Klum has taken Halloween dressing to another level, transforming herself into a giant severed hand for her 25th annual Halloween party in New York.
The supermodel and television personality, who has earned the title “Queen of Halloween” for her elaborate annual costumes, arrived at Cathédrale on Saturday, October 31, looking almost unrecognisable.
Her latest creation was a gruesome, oversized replica of her own left hand, complete with long red fingernails, rings, visible veins and bloody-looking tendons at the wrist.
Only her eyes and mouth were visible through an opening in the costume.
Klum was accompanied by helpers dressed in blood-stained hazmat suits, who assisted her as she made her way into the venue.
A year in the making
The elaborate costume was created by special effects makeup artist Mike Marino, known for his work on “The Batman” and “Coming 2 America”.
The idea came to Klum while she was looking at her own hand and wondering whether she could somehow fit inside an oversized version of it.
She eventually approached Marino with the concept, and the pair spent a year developing the idea before four months of construction brought it to life.
The costume was made using detailed body scans of Klum's hand, allowing the artists to recreate its features, including her rings and fingernails.
Even a replica of the tattoo bearing her husband Tom Kaulitz's name on her ring finger was included.
Klum spent between five and six hours getting into the costume on the night.
Speaking to reporters at the party, she admitted that wearing the oversized creation was no easy task.
"Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it," she said.
25 Years of Halloween transformations
Klum's annual Halloween party has become one of the most anticipated celebrity events of the year, with the star consistently pushing the boundaries of costume design.
Her previous transformations have included Medusa, E.T., Princess Fiona from “Shrek”, a giant worm and a werewolf inspired by Michael Jackson's “Thriller” music video.
In 2023, she also transformed into a peacock, with Kaulitz completing the look as the egg.
The annual celebrations began in 2000, although the party took a break in 2020 and 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite the elaborate nature of her costumes, Klum has revealed that she keeps them all in storage rather than throwing them away after Halloween.
With her giant severed hand transformation, the supermodel has given fans yet another reason to look forward to her Halloween reveal each year.
