2 PlayStation & Xbox Games Will Officially Disappear Forever On December 31

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have both caught quite a bit of flack over the years for their lack of games. Now, the situation isn't about to get any better, as two titles are being permanently removed from the consoles forever.

The PS5, and Sony as a whole, are currently facing immense pushback from gamers over their decision to cease production of physical games, and this is yet another great example of why fans care. The titles being currently removed may not be the most popular in the world, but if they can be rendered unplayable, so can any other games.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S Officially Lose Two Racing Games Forever

GameMill Entertainment is famous for primarily publishing licensed games. Over the years, they've released titles such as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, and Miraculous: Paris Under Siege, each one based on an extremely beloved IP.

In 2019, GameMill released Street Outaws: The List, based on the Discovery Channel reality show. In 2021, this was followed by Street Outlaws 2: Winner Takes All. Both titles were drag-racing games, and both were developed by Team6 Game Studios.

Sadly, as is often the case with licensed games, the licensing agreement behind them was only temporary. With GameMill's license to make games based on Street Outlaws expiring, they are being forced to remove both games across all platforms, including Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

"We wanted to inform you that STREET OUTLAWS: THE LIST [and STREET OUTLAWS 2: WINNER TAKES ALL] is soon to be leaving Steam at the end of December 2026 as our licensing agreement for the title has concluded," the official announcement read. "If you already own the game, there’s no need to worry, it will remain in your library and will continue to be fully playable. Thank you for your continued support!"

After December 31, 2026, there will be no way for new players to purchase and download either Street Outlaws: The List or Street Outlaws 2: Winner Takes All. It is appreciated that previously purchased and downloaded versions of the game are still playable, which isn't always the case in circumstances like this, but this would still be an issue if physical copies of the game didn't exist.

It would also be a bigger deal if the games were as celebrated as some of GameMill's other titles. The first game received mixed-to-negative reviews, while the sequel was dragged through the mud.

"A blatant cash grab," one Metacritic review starts for the second game. "It's just shockingly bad. A game about drag racing where you can't even modify the car in any meaningful way and with no tuning. What is the target audience here, is it 12 year Olds or is it people in to cars because there is nothing here for car lover's."
